Cynthia Peters

Board Member

Cindy Peters (she/her) has been an active member of the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Tampa Bay since 2018 and has been a member of leadership for most of that time as well. She has acted as outreach committee chair (past), co-chair of the education committee (past), and social media chair and co-chair (current). She is a member of the social justice committee, which is a joint committee between the Progressive Caucus and the Hillsborough County Democratic Black Caucus. Cindy has also acted as a stop-gap for the various needs of the Caucus, and is willing to help out in any way she can, including creating graphics, creating meeting presentations, helping to plan meetings, facilitating meetings, and drafting calls to action.

Cindy was born in Atlanta, and grew up in Lutz. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida, with a major in history. Cindy also had the opportunity to live in Canada for almost 10 years, where she realized that healthcare for all is attainable. Like many people, the 2016 election was a wake-up call for Cindy, who realized she could not rely on others to make positive changes and began her search to find "her people" in the Progressive Caucus. Progressivism is extremely important to her, and Cindy believes progressive policies help create a world where all of us - not just some of us - can thrive. She has a passion for making a positive impact in her community and empowering people through activism.

She lives in Tampa with her boyfriend, Fred, and their cat, MJ, and works as an office manager and marketing coordinator. Cindy is pictured here just after coming back from a Saturday afternoon canvass in East Tampa to get voters registered by mail.
