Melanie Lachs

For the past four years, Melanie (she/her) has been a member of the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Tampa Bay, including as a Board member since 2019. Melanie believes the Caucus is a great vehicle for progressive activism in our community and has helped with community education, demonstrations for justice, voter registration, poll greeting and poll watching, holding our elected officials accountable, and volunteering for candidates with progressive platforms. Because change can only happen when people show up to vote, she is a precinct captain for precinct 626 and a district leader in Region 3. Melanie has organized and/or led canvassing for every precinct in her district. She is fortunate to have worked for non-profits in the region for the past 20 years that promote environmental education, health equity and affordable housing. A routine part of her work in grants is building project budgets and reporting on expenditures and she is happy to put these skills to work for the Caucus as Treasurer.
